The Marion County Clerk of the Court is responsible for processing circuit court case records, among other duties. Court records are documents generated during legal proceedings, such as criminal case files, bankruptcy records, and records from family or probate court.

They contain information about these legal proceedings, including names of the parties involved, dates of hearings, testimony and evidence, and rulings in cases. Court records are kept in office for a period of time and then disposed of or archived. Most are considered public records, though some information may be redacted when copies are provided to the public. In some cases, court records may be sealed and require a court order to access, but many others can be accessed easily online. Laura E. Roth is the current Clerk of the Court.
Requests may be submitted in person, through the mail, or online.
Court records can be requested from 8:00 AM — 4:30 PM Monday through Friday at the Records Facility, located at 1330 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 4622, room W122 of the Indianapolis City-County Building, or the Community Justice Campus, located at 675 Justice Way, Indianapolis, IN 46203.
For juvenile court records, you must be a party of record and present valid identification to view case files.
The price for physical copies is $1 per page. Effective July 1, 2021, the cost to certify a record is $3 regardless of the number of pages of the document. Therefore, a certified copy of a one page document costs $4.
Online records can be found using https://www.indy.gov/workflow/public-record-request. These require the agency involved, the date, time, location, and names of parties involved.
